We recently had the pleasure of hosting an M&S food commercial at Haddenham Studio, bringing together top-tier talent and cutting-edge camera tech for some truly mouth-watering tabletop work.

Directed by Remy Archer with cinematography by Rick Joaquim, SASC, this shoot was an absolute masterclass in capturing the finer details of food.

The Right Space for Food and Tabletop Shoots

If you are a director or DP looking for a studio for food shoots, you know that tabletop work demands a highly controlled environment. Haddenham Studio is purposefully designed for this type of exacting production. Our space allows crews to rig intricate lighting setups directly over the tabletop, giving cinematographers complete freedom to shape the light exactly how they want it without fighting against the room.

For this M&S project, the brilliant food stylist Nicole Herft worked her magic right here on set. Having a comfortable, functional space that allows the art department and food styling teams to prepare and finesse the product just steps away from the camera is vital for keeping a food shoot running smoothly.

Pushing Boundaries with the Pixboom Spark and ProAV

To capture the dynamic, high-speed macro shots required for modern food advertising, this production utilized the Pixboom Spark camera, working in collaboration with the team at ProAV.

Food commercials thrive on slow-motion detail—capturing the exact moment a glaze pours or a crust snaps. The Pixboom Spark is built for this kind of rigorous, high-frame-rate tabletop filming. Pairing that level of camera technology with Rick Joaquim’s expert eye meant the visuals achieved that premium, high-end M&S look.
